Haggling

3-year-olds are so much fun to haggle with...most of the time, at least.

I do have a few other drawings that I've done over the last month, but I'm not happy with them. Apparently doing a comic every day really does keep your comic muscles toned. I'm out of shape! Maybe I'll need to do another 100-day challenge....

Brave Anoles

I'm back! We went away for a while and stuff happened and it got hard to draw and post. We're back now, though, and I've been having fun again with my drawings. Here's one from over a month ago that I didn't post.

By the way, in panel two, you see the anole sporting a dew flap under his chin. That's to tell everyone how big and threatening he is.

Parenting with Iguanas

This was the last page of my second sketchbook of comics! I did start the first sketchbook about halfway through, but this still feels like an accomplishment.

A hundred days of comics!

Today is 100 days from when I started my 100-days-project of daily comics. I wasn't too great about posting them here on time, but I do have a comic for every day! It was a ton of fun, and I'm definitely going to keep doing this as a journal. I might not draw one every single day, but I'll try to do most days.

The thing this project has made me realize, though, is that I would really like to try to make more finished-looking comics (not as sketchy as I often did these hundred days), and even start a webcomic. I've got some ideas, and I'll start drawing things up and see how it goes. I'll definitely post on here when I've got something to show everyone.

Anyway, thank you to everyone who stopped by during the hundred days of comics. More to come!

Weekend Comics

Here are the weekend comics...plus Monday, 'cause I didn't quite get around to posting last night.

My Grandfather was a D-Day Paratrooper

He's in France now with other veterans, celebrating 70 years since he jumped out of a plane. Amazing.

Ignoring the Prime Directive

Caterpillar adventures.

I have now learned that Gulf Fritillary butterflies have actually been known to lay their eggs on people, so it's possible that this was one of the wiser butterflies out there.

Baba!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday! Credit for the joke idea goes to her--she's been wanting to take a photo like this for ages, but we haven't gotten around to it yet.

(By the way, Baba au Rhum is a dessert.)

I'm back!

I've been away...here, at home, but away. We had friends come to visit (fun!) and updating the blog just wasn't going to happen. I do, however, have comics to share. So here we go! One whole week of comics, from May 27 through June 3. Enjoy!

Queasy Comics

The stomach bug that has been sweeping through my family finally hit me this weekend. I was so queasy and woozy and sleepy that I didn't even want to draw. I did make sketches for these comics, but I didn't finish them up until today. I do feel a bit better today--not quite as pathetic as these comics make me out to be!

The snowman is pronounced "Bquq"

And Worf is saying, "What's happening?" or "qaStaH nuq?", which he probably never said on the show, but it ends in an "uq" sound, so I used it. I did lots of research for this comic. Did you know there's a Bing translator for Klingon?

House keeper

We saw one of these yesterday. A big one. It was on the outside of the house, though, thankfully. I've only seen smallish ones inside so far. I always rescue spiders and take them outside (especially the ones that can eat cockroaches), but I don't even know how I would go about rescuing a 5-inch spider!

Girl with a Pearl Earring...and a backhoe

I passed some Vermeer equipment yesterday and this scene immediately leapt to mind. It was tremendously fun to draw!

Stomach Bug

Poor kid. He's completely fine now. He does like to remind us that he threw up, though.

Weekend comics

Three comics today--from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It was a busy weekend with the recital (which went great!)

Quite an old keyboard

I think we got that keyboard around 1994 or so.

...I guess I need to keep practicing the tremolos.

Four-comic catch up.

Busy, busy, busy days. Too busy to post, but I made sure I drew! Four comics for you today, and I'm sorry if the last one gets some unwanted songs in your head....

Yeah, that's Simon on the climbing wall.

Chug-a chug-a, chug-a chug-a, whoo whoo!

I like making the train tracks, but Shawn seems content to drive them around, making the sound effects!

I had never had a cosmo before

Two comics! Monday and Tuesday. At some point I hope I'll be able to post every day again, but it's been a bit hectic just now. Soon! For now, enjoy these two!

The rehearsal went fine, actually.

Here are the comics from Saturday and Sunday!

It turns out the cellist was fine with Yo-Yo Ma's tempo. Hooray!

Finishing April

I'm back at home and I've got the scanner again, so the comics will be a little clearer. Here are the three comics I've missed posting. I haven't quite finished yesterday's yet (oops), so I'll post that with today's comic later today or tomorrow.
